Once again I am thrilled to be able to thank all of you that have been so instrumental in making our 2009 BIGHORN BAM campaign even more successful than last year.
Through this years events we were able to present the Lucy Curci Cancer Center with a check for $375,000! That makes almost $700,000 donated in the past two years! The 2009 BIGHORN BAM fund raiser started with the BIGHORN BAM Launch Party where we added a silent auction. Many thanks go to the generous people that donated the spectacular auction items and to those who walked away with some very fun and exciting prizes. A special thank you goes to Sullivan's Steakhouse for underwriting the food and beverage for this event.
One of the most fun and exciting things about all of the BAM activities is the Caddy Auction the night before the golf tournament. The evening, hosted by the R.D. & Joan Dale Hubbard Foundation, was a huge success and raised over $100,000...a big thank you to all of those that participated and of course to R.D. and Joan Dale Hubbard.
The day of the golf tournament which was held on the Canyons course allowed lady golfers and their caddies to come together and have a fun day of golf while raising much needed funds in the fight against breast cancer.
Because of the generosity of so many people The BIGHORN Radiation Oncology Center will be able to provide another year of door to door transportation to in need patients undergoing daily radiation treatments. The Eisenhower Schnitzer/Novack Breast Center was able to purchase a breast MRI computer aided detection system and a digital faxitron rapid breast tumor specimen x-ray analyzer.
Finally, through our efforts, a gamma probe for sentinel lymph node localization will be available for doctors performing surgery for breast cancer patients. I know all of this medical language is hard to understand but what isn't hard to understand is that because of the generosity of so many people, lives will be saved and people with breast cancer right here in the Coachella Valley will have a chance at longer, healthier lives.
I am so very grateful and appreciative to everyone who helped make our BIGHORN Behind A Miracle truly a miracle. I look forward to many more miracles in the 2010 event.
